Report on the XIVth World Productivity Congress

October 8th - 11th 2006

The XIVth Congress was a huge success. Over 1,000 delegates from more than 40 countries came to Shenyang, China to hear about the latest developments in productivity science.

The theme of the Congress, Pursuing Scientifc and Sustainable Growth in Productivity & Performance, was certainly brought out in the presentations which ranged across economic productivity, through national and regional productivity infrastructures to organisational productivity and finally onto personal performance and development.

The Vice-Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Zeng Peiyan, gave the opening keynote speech and set the tone by talking avout harmonious development and by raising some of the challenges that China, and other nations, have to face as they attempt to balance the aspirations and desires of their citizens with the requirements of nature.

The city of Shenyang provided an appropriate location as a city in transformation - from a centre of heavy industry to one of lighter, more flexible manufacturing facilities.
