No Complacency
Olebile Gaborone

The Productivity movement in Botswana is gaining momentum in different sectors of the economy. The pioneering role of Botswana Telecommunications Corporation in the productivity movement in Botswana is fully recognized through visits to BTC from many organizations and countries. Government has embarked upon transformation process for the public service by introducing a performance management system. The initial reaction one perceives to such transformation is that of denial. African comparisons are usually applied to portray the Botswana situation as better and thereby taking the urgency out of the need to undergo transformation. Of course we argue that objective benchmarking should be done with the best of the class in the world so that when we fail to reach the stars we can reach the clouds. The source of consolation and hope however is that the transformation in the public sector is supported by the President of the country
